Parra Wine Company
Sam Parra is a second generation Mexican-American on his fathers side and a first generation on his mothers’. Born and raised in St. Helena, CA, he was destined to be in the wine industry. After rising through the ranks for 15 years in both Napa and Sonoma counties, Sam moved to the Willamette Valley in the summer of 2016 to begin this journey. A chance encounter at a 2019 Oregon wine industry tasting prodded Parra to establish Parra Wine Co.
Parra is also a Co-Chair of AHIVOY, a group of LatinX winemakers dedicated to providing education and professional development to vineyard workers. AHIVOY is a nonprofit organization creating opportunities and empowering Latinx and Hispanic vineyard workers of the Willamette Valley to overcome socioeconomic challenges. They provide education and professional development, paving the way for our hardest-working community members to support their families and establish careers in the wine industry.
The Albariño is a delicious white wine with tastes of pear, nectarine, lime zest, minerals, it’s mouthwatering. On the nose, lemon, citrus blossom, pear, anise. The Rosado, a delicious rosé wine with tastes of juicy strawberries, luscious watermelon, plus a good dry finish. Ripe white peach, pear, citrus peel, strawberries. Both would pair well with a poke bowl, sushi or some good fresh ceviche!
These wines you will not find in most stores, which make these wines that much more unique. Anyone interested in Parra’s Wines signs up to a mailing list through their website and gets in line for an allotments of 2, 6 or 12 bottles. You don’t pay up front, but because there is a limited quantity, you pay when it’s ready. Northwest Vines is honored to show these wonderful unique wines and support Sam Parra on his continued successful winemaking journey.
