When the aroma of peach melba hits, you know you are in for a treat. First off, a cup of chamomile tea touched with a bit of turbinado sugar is a relaxing flavor combination. The Golden Delicious apple and melon flavors are mere bonuses. The wine’s smooth, slippery texture is graced by soft acidity. Pair with a hammock. - Michael Alberty

The 2021 Affinités Chardonnay pops with citrus blossom, lemon curd and quince. These lovely aromatics then give way to hints river rock, fresh rain and baked apples. Minerality and wet stone on the palate unfold to reveal flavors of lemon zest and tart candied apples. Tightly grained French oak nuance and fruit driven intensity add weight and power as the wine continues to drive forward. This impressive Chardonnay is defined by its linear precision and consistent tension. There is a remarkable purity here, an electricity of bound energy that cannot be mistaken for anything other than a wine of significance and ageability.

The grapes for the Coventina Pinot Noir are grown from a clone known for its richness and dark fruit. These grapes have produced a Coventina wine that is one of the more substantive Pinot Noirs the vintners have seen coming from the area. The properties of the vineyard allow the grapes to come to full ripeness at moderate alcohol levels. Fruit with that much ripeness stands up well to 100% French oak barrels. To add complexity to the final product, the grapes are processed in three different types of fermenters. The different forms of fermentation clearly lead to very different wines in the barrels. Proper blending results in a layered, complex Pinot Noir.

King Cyrus the Great was instrumental in planting extensive vineyards and producing wine throughout his territory. Cyrus supplied his troops with wine rations for strength; however, he allowed some food and wine to be captured by the enemy. L’Ensemble is a carefully crafted assemblage of individually fermented blocks from some of the finest vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Production levels are subject to vintage quality, where only the most texturally rich barrels are elevated into this sensational blend. It took multiple years of vineyard and winery trials to identify and isolate the subtle variations of each site we farm. Then we adjust our farming approach each vintage to liberate a boldness and individualized charisma from the vines that may have otherwise been absent.
Their first vintage made entirely at the Nicolas-Jay Estate, the wines are showing purity of fruit, beautiful texture and tension and are sure to continue to evolve for years in bottle. The 2021 L’Ensemble is silky, pretty and elegant, but with a grit and willpower that suggests an exquisite vintage made by an experience and sensitive winemaking approach.

Signature deep red colors. The aromas of dark stone fruit give way to hints of licorice, tobacco and spice and help to deliver the palate more of the same with notes of blueberry, wet stone, and forest floor. The introduction of some whole cluster fruit has given it a nice herbaciousness as well. Full bodied with very round tannins. Definitely a cellar stocker.

This is Red Hills Cellars first Rogue Valley wine, and they could not be more thrilled with the results. Darker than many Rose’s, this wine is over the top with strawberry and subtle hints of pear, while not being overly sweet and holding a nice balance of acidity. It will remind you of biting into a freshly picked strawberry that has been warmed by the sun. This wine is very approachable and pairs well with lighter barbecue, grilled tri-tip with chimichurri, or just chilling on the patio. A very fun wine to drink.

The 2021 Estate Pinot Noir reflects the multifaceted nature of the vintage: the abundance of fruit from our early picks under sunny skies and the earthen complexity they found from the older vines picked in cooler October weather. Blending the Estate is often the most difficult task because it is their largest bottling each vintage, and thus includes both the successes and shortcomings. Thanks to diligent farming from our vineyard team, attention to detail, and a fantastic winemaking team for harvest, the 2021 Estate Pinot Noir contains only successes.
